Fishing Report for August 24 2010
Heavy Rains last week in the Nashville Area caused flash flooding in most of the smaller creeks and rivers. Fishing also took a hit in these waterways too. Most creeks have been really muddy for most of the week. Stewart Creek in Smyrna is clearing up nicely ,but is still a little high.I went fishing behind the national guards did manage 1 really nice bass this morning aprox 4 lbs on a Zara Spook. Fished about 3 more hours without another bite. These reports brought to by Music City Superstore on Bonanzle

Nice Bass caught Out of Stewert Creek
Spent most of 2 hrs fishing throwing everything from torpedos Zara Spooks,Worms, and crankbaits without any luck but in desperation pulled out a 1/4 oz spinnerbait made 2 cast and landed a nice 4 lb bass. This shows that sometimes you have to be willing to change lures to find one that will catch the bass of the day.

Mike Hart Caught Cheating in Bass Fishing Tournament
In an article posted by Pete Thomas Grind T.V Mike Hart a successful Southern California Bass Angler was caught putting Sinkers in the Bass's mouth to make the bass weigh more.On a WON Bass Tour tournament on Lake Mead. Hart has made over $200,000 fishing professionally. Hart did admit to cheating after being caught red handed. WON has declined to pursue criminal charges against Hart. My own opinion Hart should be charged for stealing and fraud. He has been banned from WON Tournament for life. To read the full story go to this link Hart Cheating.

Stewart Creek is really a hot spot Lately
Stewart creek in Smyrna Tn has been the best place lately that I have found for catching largemouth bass. The shad have moved into the creek and the bass have followed them . The smaller bass are busting the top chasing the shad, the larger bass are staying closer to the bottom feeding on the injured shad. A topwater like a Heddon Torpedo or a Rapala Floating Minnow work well for the top feeders, while a spinnerbait slow rolled across the bottom picks up a little bigger fish. Some large bass also can be caught on top. I caught a nice 3 lb bass on top Thursday Morning.
The best time seems to be early morning between 5-9 o clock, I fish from the bank if a person was in a boat they would do even better.
Check my store on Bonanzle for all kinds of crankbaits Heddon,Rapala,Bandit,Bomber and many more

Bass hiting topwaters
Bass are following the school of shad. Catching them can be easy at times especially in areas with some moderate boat traffic. Have your topwater ready to cast, when a boat plows through these school of shad it makes them disoriented and the bass are will attack the injured shad. Throw your topwater out where you see the bass hitting the top of the water. My favorite lures for this is the Heddon Torpedo and the Heddon Zara Spook Jr. So head to the lake or river and make sure you have at least one topwater lure ready to cast.
Keep a Tight line and good luck

Hot Weather has Arrived
Hot weather has arrived and the bass will be headed deep. With temps soaring into the 90's and even touching the century mark the bass will be headed to the deeper water and the steep drop offs. Don't overlook the heavy mil foil and weeds. Alot of bass will hang under the matted weeds. One of the best ways to get them out is by dropping a worm or tube through the mats . Use a extra heavy worm weight , a heavy action casting rod or flipping stick. The line should be the braided line. No stretch an the smaller diameter will allow the line to cut through the weeds easier. Baitcasting reels are better for this application they have more hook setting power than the spinning reel

Bluegill Fishing a Fun way to Fish with Your Children
I had a chance to break out the fishing poles Saturday tried for some Bass but didn't have any success. Decided on Bluegills and what a day I had. With a few wax worms and an ultra light rod and reel I caught alot of bluegills mostly small but still fun. But the highlight of the day was helping a father and son catch some bluegills. The father was so focused on catching the local prize fish the Crappie that he didn't know the bluegills would be more fun for his small son. Once I convinced him to let me help them both of them had a ball. My reward was to see the look on the fathers face when his son caught what was possibly his first fish. The next time you get to go fishing don't be so focused on one species that you don't enjoy the day in the outdoors. Always help those who haven't been fishing as long as you have.
