Stewart Creek Bass Fishing Report

I had Monday off work,went bass fishing in Stewart Creek just north of Smyrna ,Tn. Alot of bass are working the creek following the schools of shad. I tried several techniques,topwater baits,spinnerbaits,inline spinners, crankbaits.buzzbaits. The technique that produced best was an 1/8oz Big O Crankbait. White color only dives about 3 feet. Several small bass and a few keepers,but all were released.

Fall Fishing My Favorite Time

As the days start getting shorter and temperatures start to back off some the fishing starts to heat up. The water temps will be declining moving the baitfish back to the shallows and the Bass will be soon to follow. Creeks and small rivers are starting to fill with shad and where ever there are shad there will also be bass.
My favorite lures in the fall are 3/8oz chart/white spinnerbaits and a white buzzbait.Late in the fall I switch to the larger spinnnerbaits with bigger blades and lipless crankbaits fished like a plastic worm.
In rivers and backwaters look for weeds and lily pad fields for some fantastic Largemouth action.The fish have been in the choked out areas all summer but now with the weeds dying off some the fish are more accessible.
